In-Hand Manipulation – Coins

Here’s a shot from last week when we were working on the letter N.  We did our usual alphabet letter in painter’s tape on our Pergo, and I had the Littles hold about five nickles in their palm of their dominant hand.  They had to use only the fingers and palm of that hand to move the nickel (N is for nickel) between their thumb and index finger and then place it on the N.  This type of activity is the easiest I know for getting those little hands into a perfect Pincer grasp.  Another occupational therapy at home idea for our kiddos struggling or practicing fine motor skills.

Watching Our Way Through the ABCs has made it possible to bring so much into our homeschool classroom and not cost a dime.

This week we are returning to our alphabet curriculum (you know the one, the one I make up as I go along).  Our letter for this week is N, and I found this very cute Storybots video for the letter N.  Turns out they have videos for every letter of the alphabet, and they are all free.  How cool is that?

The beat is rock and roll, the characters are cartoon, and it’s a fast paced run through of a bunch of words that begin with the letter N.  Enjoy!
