“I Want” PECs – One Card Versus Two

One thing I do differently than protocol is that I have given Noah two PECs for the phrase “I want” instead of the one card recommended in “A Picture’s Worth.”  They instruct that the phrase should be on one card because “I” is too abstract for a child to grasp in and of itself.  I totally get it, but especially because I am focused on speech AND communication with Noah, I want him to recognize it’s a two-word phrase, and he seems to get it.  I did want to make the one-card phrase available to the rest of you who may need to follow the PECS program a little more strictly.
